Citrus plants such as the lemon are attractive houseplant and conservatory specimens. A lovely feature of citrus is the fact that new season’s flowers are displayed alongside the ripening fruit of last season. They also have a strong, delicious scent.
Indoors, citrus plants need a bright room, ideally with lots of sunlight. A room that is too dry may cause the leaves to drop but humidity can be increased by standing on a tray of regularly-watered pebbles. Keep soil just moist in winter and at a temperature above 10 degrees C. Increase watering in summer to twice a week. Feed in spring through to autumn. The plant can be moved outdoors in summer.
